“Ogyen Trinley Dorje will be in Bonn, Germany,” Osel says, “for four days, August 27-30, hosted by the Kamalashila institute.”

“Thanks for the heads up,” Japhy replies, “four days with the Karmapa, tickets available, while they last.”

Bill, I love the caption to the pic you included!

    • My wife and I had a friend visiting from Bremen, Germany over the other evening.

He spoke of how Germans are such stickers about the rule of law.

Germans don’t understand why Americans don’t make guns illegal.

I couldn’t help but wonder what Germans will make of Ogyen Trinley Dorje’s legal problems in India.

I have a German friend who was notorious for voicing her opinions around the implementation of the ethics that we are encouraged to develop on the path (ethics, mind you, that tend to get bent by the sect itself) in the monasteries to which we were both affiliated in Asia.

Countless times she was asked to leave, countless times she resisted. At the time the Tibetans came to regard her as a pain in the ass. You know, the kind of person who reminds you that you are being a hypocrite from time to time. No one likes a goodie-two-shoes.

I would assume that most Germans would have a hard time relating to the way Tibetans bend the rules.

Who knows?! I just hope they reserved enough seats (and not just at the sponsor and corporate sponsor level).

Too bad Karmapa won’t have enough time to fix the sect. This prophecy doesn’t give much wiggle room: http://tibetanaltar.blogspot.com/2015/07/tibetan-prophecy-one-decade-left.html?m=1
