That time after the Karmapa died and Tibetans chose being part of China over living in the West

Picture of Thrangu Rinpoche who as Abbot of Rumtek Monastery along with his student Akong Rinpoche, repatriated the Gyalwa Karmapa to Tsurphu Monastery in occupied Tibet, in retrospect, a miscalculation of historic proportions for the cause of a free Tibet

“Trungpa dying like he did, living it up as a Westerner, decided the matter for Thrangu Rinpoche.”

So says Emily.

“He tasked his monk, Akong Rinpoche, to reach out to the Chinese, and the rest is history.”

Emily pauses.

“This is how the late Akong Rinpoche died a ranking member of the ChineseCommunist Party’s United Front Work Department, of all things.”

Emily continues.

“Murdered In China, by a former monk of Situ Rinpoche’s monastery, in a dispute over money.”

Eric responds.

“Incredible.”

Eric pauses.

“The facts speak for themselves though.”

Eric Continues.

“Akong Rinpoche never made secret that he joined the United Front Work Department on behalf of his teacher, Thrangu Rinpoche.”

End scene.
