The Kalachakra’s call for holy war against Muslims unchallenged by both Karmapas…

Picture from April 19, 2015 taken of guests at an invitation only event at KTD held for Ogyen Trinley Dorje’s supporters the old man instagramed to illustrate this episode of Pulp Buddhism in which the Naropa Prairie Dog Players discuss how both Karmapas have allowed their respective Karma Kagyu sects to call for a holy war against Muslims based on their literal interpretation of the Kalachakra…

Jonathan begins.

“Neither Ogyen Trinley Dorje nor Thaye Dorje have spoken out to date against their followers regarding the Kalachakra’s supposed call for a holy war against Muslims.”

Sally replies.

“Why not?”

Jonathan replies.

“Neither Karmapa Yangsi is in a position to challenge the status quo of their respective sects as such.”

Sally replies.

“I thought Thaye Dorje was supposed to be different.”

Jonathan replies.

“Apparently not in this regard.”

Allen replies.

“I’m against war as a matter of principle.”

Sally replies.

“Is it enough to be against war as a matter of principle in a time of war?”

Caroline replies.

“That neither Karmapa Yangsi has spoken out on this issue is a thing for me as a Buddhist.”

Virginia replies.

“It shouldn’t.”

Caroline replies.

“I welcome the opportunity to question both Karmapa Yangsi in all things as a matter of principle.”

Caroline replies.

“This is who I am as a Karma Kagyu.”

Virginia replies.

“It isn’t our place to question enlightened beings like they are just anyone.”

Caroline replies.

“I disagree.”

Jonathan replies.

“We will just have to wait and see which Karmapa Yangsi breaks with their followers on this issue.”

End scene. Fini.

  1. Are the Naropa Prairie Dog Players a group of actors and the above an excerpt of a script? Is this meant to be satire? Pulp Buddhism as metaphor for other “religious” groups?

  2. Here is a good read for anyone wanting to know more about the Kalachakra teachings. It’s big, it’s thick ,and heavy. Not an afternoon thriller but a good place to start.

Maybe this will close the door on this ridiculous topic.

This blog seems to always have OTD in its crosshairs; trying to use the Kalachakra Tantra as a way of saying Karmapa is agains the Muslim faith is absurd.

When, Bill, did you receive the lung and tri for the Kalachakra Tantra? The wang is not hard to get these days, but the claims made here, especially if made by someone with no official study/insight to Kalachakra are an absolute waste of time.

      • Raul,

You are reading a work of fiction.

        This is not a topic.

      • You know Raul I have to say that Bill seems to shoot wildly in all directions. Not just at HH OTD. His last few blogs were aimed at Lama Ole and HH TTD. We should call him Wild Bill 🙂 and some how the Naropa Prarie Dog Players are actually all representations of a confused mind. Not so unlike us all. I wonder since there are 6 players and 6 teachings of Naropa if there is a connection here?

  3. Those who think things are real are as stupid as a cow. Those who think they are not real are even stupider.

  4. Actually not stupid is just plane stupid. I personally think there are no degrees to stupidity. This quote is actually pointing at something else if you think about it long enough. But first we need to free ourselves a little from our dualistic perception. And go beyond the two extremes. Can you do That Lama Franny?
