The failure of Khenchen Thrangu, Akong , Khenpo Karthar Rinpoches and their Karma Kagyu lineage in the West

Dear readers,

Salut mes amis !

In 1999 after the Chinese Communist Party allowed Ogyen Trinley Dorje to “escape” Tibet Akong Rinpoche doubled down on its “safe” short Karma Kagyu lineage as represented by Situ Rinpoche, then head of the Karma Kagyu sect of Tibetan Buddhism.

Despite their years of collaborating with the Chinese Communist Party to make “Tibet great again” the “do as you are told as you have been told to do it” dharma of Khenchen Thrangu, Akong and Khenpo Karthar Rinpoches, simply didn’t work for us as dharma practitioners.

“You are the most lucky people in the whole world. The Tai Situpa has become the main lineage-holder for our Karma Kamtsang tradition and is our greatest living guru, the highest holder of Mahamudra. There is no one better to receive these precious transmissions from. I myself would love to receive these teachings from him but circumstances do not allow. You are all far more fortunate than I am. Not just that… the whole reason that the Gyalwa Karmapa escaped from Tibet to India and risked everything was for one purpose, one reason only, and that was to receive this Mahamudra transmission from his guru, the Tai Situpa. You will have the opportunity to receive the same thing as the Karmapa does, the deepest treasure of our lineage. You should really appreciate this and do everything you possibly can to learn these teachings properly and to practice them as he tells you.”

Akong Rinpoche

Voilà !

From 1983 to 1999 Khenchen Thrangu, Akong and Khenpo Karthar Rinpoches tried their best to bully us into renouncing Rangjung Rikpe Dorje’s Karma Kagyu “Crazy Wisdom” lineage, our “When the swan came to the lake moment”, the period between 1970 and 1983, but alas, but when it was all said and done they had failed miserably with us, and they turned on us, as the Karma Kagyu sect has done ever since, blaming us for the failure of China’s “safe” short Karma Kagyu lineage which none of wish to practice today despite their best efforts to convince us otherwise.

It was no different for Khenpo Karthar at KTD.

Their teacher Khenchen Thrangu had failed them.

And they blamed us as the Karma Kagyu sect of Situ Rinpoches successor Ogyen Trinley Dorje has been doing ever since.

Courage !
