A big win for the Shangpa Kagyu is a big loss for the Karma Kagyu lineage

I submit for your consideration the example of Kalu Rinpoche following in his predecessor’s footsteps.

Vajradhara is without question in the house.

yippie. i had only a perriphial relationship with the lat kalu rinpoche, but i spend almost a year at kdol and love that retreat space. lets hope he starts installing monks and nuns and starts major retreats again. maybe not three year retreats as few seem to actually use the lama title even when given, but at least lots of multiple month retreats. you can sky gaze on that mountain in the bodhisattva position, and look into nothing but clear blue sky. a special place.

Yes, nikolas, you describe tha kagyu tradition I know and love deeply.

What has been going on in India for the last 20 years has been pretty terrible. I remember early days of the Kagyu monlam when it was small and held under the bodhi tree. It was magical and inspiring.

This institutional, expensive, media-driven Kagyu monlam feels as if it’s losing its soul.

      Our lineage is sick.
