ICYMI China’s rules for recognizing living Buddhas

latimes.com

A reader asked.

The 17th Karmapa was the first ever “living Buddha” recognized by the Chinese Government.

The Dalai Lama confirmed the Chinese Government’s choice for 17th Karmapa.

In 2016 the 17th Karmapa allowed the Chinese Government to recognize Traleg Rinpoche’s reincarnation as a living Buddha.

Thanks to Tibetan Buddhism China is the leader of the Buddhist world.

Thus the necessity of our separating our Buddhism from the Buddhism of Tibetans.

I needed that laugh, thank you.
Of course I applied as a living Buddha too, but without the family connections, funds or party membership my situation is hopeless.
I’ll be forced to wander the earth as a lesser unknown local diety instead until my application for a higher caste rebirth is approved.
My grandfather once said – better to be a lone wolf than run in the pack with a stinky nose. Well said gramps.
