Ogyen Trinley Dorje’s London visit next month will be his first trip abroad since the Panama Papers caught him taking money from the Chinese for his Kagyu Monlam prayer festival.

So both lamas are getting money from China.
And, duh!, Ogyen Trinley will get more ‘cos he has more supporters.

The real question for both – any organization you donate money too – is what are you spending it on?

Don’t like the fancy Kagyu monlam – don’t go, don’t give money to support it. Simple isn’t it?

Can’t get straight answers on where your money is going? Don’t give.

Jeez, Bill you’d think it was your money he was spending on big stages and flower arrangements.

What if something were to happen that makes all money meaningless?
Obviously relying on an external entity of any kind is dicey and misleading. That goes for the two disputed karmapas, followers and yourself mr. bill.
Only a sound meditation practice, including compassion enables one to be liberated in this moment now without regard to circumstance.
    Dhammapada:

*Victory breeds hatred. The defeated live in pain. Happily the peaceful live giving up victory and defeat.(Dp.15,5)
    * Hatreds never cease by hatred in this world; through love alone they cease. This is an eternal law. (Dp.1,5

    Have a great day!

  3. I am not sure what you are trying to compare here but I thought I should at least try to inform myself over the last few days and leave a comment.

I have some questions: Is it illegal or wrong to defend oneself or ones organization when being sued or legally challenged? If no, then there is no problem here.

Is it dishonest to take money given to you or your organization that someone left you in their will? If no, then there is no problem here.

Is it wrong to leave money to your teacher in your will when you die?
If no, then there is no problem here.

After winning the court challenge did Sharmapa’s organization wrongly declare the income in any way shape or form to the Chinese authorities? If no, then there is no problem here.

Did Anita Mui fail to properly take care if the financial needs of her family after her death? If no, then there is no problem here.

Did Sharmapa do anything improper with the money? I personally visited the new Hong Kong Bhodi Path center in 2011. It is beautiful and the practitioners there are very happy to have a place to meditate.
Once again if no, then there is no problem here.

Did the mother fall into a trap with a greedy lawyer who prayed on her sorrow, greed, and situation in order to profit for his own gain? Yeah here is the problem.

    What do you think?

    • KTD was given money as was the norm in the early translation period of Tibetan Buddhism in the West.

OTD is funded by the Chinese which is the norm in the new translation period of Tibetan Buddhism in the West as such.

There is no comparing KTD’s money to OTD’s money.
