The 17th Karmapa can’t allow Lama Norlha to retire in good standing, their lamas allowed to cover up his historic sexual predation

The sexual predation of woman by Kalu Rinpoche, dismissed at the time by us as a cultural misunderstanding on Rinpoche’s part, is a learned behavior. Following behavior modeled by his guru Lama Norlha has abused generations of female students. He cannot be allowed to retire in good standing but must be held accountable for what he has done as a teacher. His lamas without whom his sexual predation of woman never would have been possible must be identified and sorted out accordingly.

  1. I took refuge with Lama Norlha Rinppche, based on the strength of his students. Of the teachings from Lama Norlha i have been privilege to there was always something that i found valuable. In the few times I met him, he had described things in a way that I have kept with me.

It’s interesting – i used to hold these ideas about Chogyam Trungpa and his transgressions, and maybe i hung my hat on the notion that Trungpa was transparent about his behavior. This situation though, with deceit maybe worse, but that is just a twist to the same plot line – the taking advantage of power.

I suppose, the theoretical has come home to roost.

    • I took refuge in 1981 with Khenpo Karthar Rinpoche for the opportunity to sit his feet and learn from him not to follow his example. That after the 16th Karmapa passed away he collaborated with the Chinese is on him alone. In our relationship as guru and disciple it has never come between us.

    • “It’s never a good idea to become too dependent on the personality and character of your guru.” Dzongsar Khyentse Rinpoche
