This utterly indefensible defense of an infamous serial abuser of women puts all Tibetans to shame and outside the norms of the communities we live and practice in as dharma practitioners. We can’t think like Tibetans when it comes to the abuse of power. This isn’t about sex. It’s about a man sexually abusing female members of his Sangha. Not only does Sogyal Rinpoche to go away. His sangha has to go away. Every public figure associated with these people must either dissociate themselves from said sexual abuse or suffer the consequences. Until said Rinpoches get right with what we expect of them as members of our respective societies they will all be considered welcome among us. They need to sort this out among us. This is Donald Trump cowardice. He’s even doing Orange Hitler’s fake news bullshit. His Samaya is a Tibetan version of Sharia law basically and would be regarded as being cut from the same cloth as far as the norms of the communities we represent as Buddhists. This is awful. Tibetans at the highest level of Tibetan society need to get in front of this failure to assimilate to our community standards.
