We had discussed the following story when it broke and moved on.
Then the following comment appeared here out of the blue.
Dzogchen Ponlop Rinpoche changed his name to pass himself off as a Chinese American in Taiwan, what would otherwise be a scandal for any other Buddhist teacher here.
Fortunately for Dzogchen Ponlop Rinpoche Tibetan Buddhism here, being as Tibetan as it is, is different in this regard.
I have no issue with his not being a Buddhist monk.
The above comment was posted by someone that appears to take issue with Rinpoche not being a monk.
Presumably there are Tibetans who would be more concerned with his attempting to pass himself off as Chinese American to his celebrity wife’s fans in Taiwan which appears to be why he changed his name in the first place.
My issue with Rinpoche is that he failed to own what he did.
Trungpa did.
He left it to us, for better or for worse, to make what we might of what he had done.

Yet another example of the differece between the Mahayana and Vajrayana, equality.
In the Mahayana the Bodhisattva isn’t one of us.
Unlike as with us whom have to live with the consequences of our actions all that matters with a bodhisattva is their good intentions.
In the Vajrayana guru and disciple are equals.
The goal is our path, the path is our goal and in this we are all equals.
